Tom Kerridges Beef With M&S Shoppers…over £195 Wellington That Serves 6 People

He’s previously raised eyebrows by selling a £37 fish and chips meal and a jacket potato for £19.50.

Now Tom Kerridge has irked customers once again by releasing a Beef Wellington as part of his M&S Christmas collection for an astonishing £195.

The dish, which serves six, is described as the ‘ultimate Christmas Eve showstopper and consists of a beef fillet, portobello mushroom and chicken mousse duxelles wrapped in all-butter pastry with a beef and red wine gravy.

It is expensive than a set meal at the chef’s own two Michelin-starred pub The Hand & Flowers in Marlow, where a three-course Sunday roast costs £175.

Tom, 52, said the dish has ‘an earthy black truffle flavour’ and ‘is worthy of a festive feast to remember’.

However, that hasn’t landed well with prospective customers with one joking online: ‘I think it would justifiable if it included Tom Kerridge to do the cooking and cleaning up for this price’.

Another took to Reddit to add: ‘I love that it says it’s for Christmas Eve. Over £200 before you even get to Christmas dinner.’

While the Wellington is described as the ‘show stopper’, it’s not the chef’s only festive M&S offering.

Another centrepiece is the Turkey Wellington, which features slow cooked turkey breast with pork, apple, chestnut and cranberry stuffing.

It is wrapped in puff pastry and topped with pork crackling, pumpkin seed and thyme crumb.

It is slightly affordable than the beef, priced at £110. It serves six people.

Those who prefer fish can choose the Salmon & Lobster Wellington (£100), which boasts monkfish and lobster topped with salmon and monkfish mousse, wrapped in pastry and served with shellfish, lemon and dill bisque.

Talking about the range, Tom said: ‘I’ve combined top-quality meats and seafood with some pretty magical cooking techniques to create these world-class Wellingtons and smooth-as-silk parfait.

‘Because Christmas is about making memories around the table with loved ones, not about making a mess in the kitchen. You can leave that bit to me.’

Chef Tom Kerridge (pictured) has been working with M&S since 2022, launching food ranges as well as kitchenware

Tom, who has appeared on TV shows like Masterchef and Saturday Kitchen, has been working with M&S since 2022, releasing numerous dishes, including his Gastropub range, billed as an elevated take on British dishes.

The chef launched his first cookware collection at M&S – featuring 50 kitchen essentials and dishware earlier this month.

The prices start at £8 for kitchen utensils, with non-stick frying pans priced between £25 and £30. The range also includes an updated stainless steel version of M&S’s already popular All-in-One Saucepan, priced at £60.

Other pieces include the cast-iron pot (£45), which is perfect for everything from low-and-slow braises to high-heat searing’.

A full 12-piece dish set is priced at £100, while kitchen knives are priced at £25 each, with a full set setting customers back by £100.

The one item that was expected to be the most popular among shoppers was the Stacking Cast Iron Set, which boasts a casserole, shallow casserole and griddle pans that nest neatly within one another (£100).

In a statement shared when the range was released, Tom said: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled to launch the collection with M&S and I feel so proud of what the teams and I have created. It’s all about great design that makes cooking a joy — kitchen essentials that feel good to use, look great on the table, and are built to last.

‘The M&S team have been brilliant to work with, and I’m so excited to see it land just in time for Christmas.’
