Taco Bell Announces A Steak & Poblano Rolled Quesadilla

Taco Bell Announces A Steak & Poblano Rolled Quesadilla
There are several excellent reasons for wanting to swing by the Taco Bell drive-thru, like convenience, nostalgia, or simply because you’re craving some Tex-Mex-inspired comfort food. Now, there’s one motivation to take a trip to the California-based fast food chain sometime soon, and cheese lovers should listen up.
Taco Bell is dropping a brand-new Steak & Poblano Rolled Quesadilla next Thursday, according to an announcement shared with Food & Wine. This slightly spicy quesadilla marks the national debut of poblano peppers on the restaurant’s menu.
In the quesadilla you’ll find marinated steak, fire-roasted poblano peppers, and a blend of melted cheeses. There’s a drizzle of spicy ranch inside the rolled tortilla too, staying true to Taco Bell’s plan to lean into peak sauciness this year.
The new offering will be sold for $4.99 at participating Taco Bell locations nationwide for a limited time beginning on November 20. In an announcement, Taco Bell emphasizes that the rolled format of the quesadilla is intended to be easily portable, noting that it’s “built for comfort on the go.”
“At Taco Bell, innovation means than new menu items — it’s about reimagining the classics and introducing bold flavors that excite our fans,” Luis Restrepo, chief marketing officer at Taco Bell, says in the announcement. “With the debut of the Steak & Poblano Rolled Quesadilla, we’re celebrating the unique flavor profile of the poblano pepper in a new form. This launch is a testament to our relentless drive to deliver craveable innovations in every bite.”
This is the first time that Taco Bell has tested the rolled quesadilla format, but its classic quesadilla has been a fan-favorite offering ever since it was added as a limited-time menu item in 2001. (Clearly, customers loved it so much that it stuck around.)
While the Steak & Poblano Rolled Quesadilla will pack a little bit of heat, it’s not going to be super spicy. Poblano peppers fall on the lower end of the Scoville scale at around 1,000 to 2,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), whereas a jalapeño hovers in the 2,500 to 8,000 SHU range. Combined with the earthy, smoky notes of fire-roasted flavor, the subtle heat of these chiles is a welcome addition to the Taco Bell menu.
To help you cozy up even in cold weather, Taco Bell is updating its $9 Discovery Luxe Cravings Box, which will hold the new quesadilla plus a Doritos Locos Taco, one Crunchy Taco, Chips & Nacho Cheese Sauce, and a medium drink.
Fans who have the Taco Bell app may be familiar with the brand’s Tuesday Drops, limited-time offers that occasionally appear in the app on Tuesdays. Any Taco Bell rewards member with the app can take advantage of a special Tuesday Drop on December 9 between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. PT and enter for a chance to win one of 300 handcrafted Poblano Sweaters.
The adorable green sweaters with a pepper depicted on the front are just one way to celebrate the Steak & Poblano Rolled Quesadilla.
