A royal expert has claimed that Prince Harry is likely ‘relieved’ about Meghan Markle’s bold new career move – and divulged how it could affect their longstanding relationship.

Last week, it was revealed that The Duchess of Sussex, 44, will be making her return to the big screen, as she’s set to play herself in a new movie, Close Personal Friends.

The film, which also features actors Lily Collins, Brie Larsonand Jack Quaid, follows two couples, where one is famous and the other is not.

Meghan is best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the hit US TV-drama Suits, but also had Hollywood roles in Horrible Bosses, Get Him To The Greek and Remember Me.

She put her acting on pause when she married Prince Harry, 41, but the couple stepped down from their roles as working royals in 2020.

Since then, the two have been living in Montecito, Californiawith their two children, son Archie, six, and daughter Lilibet, four.

It’s been a big year for Meghan, as she’s launched her lifestyle brand, As Ever, and debuted two seasons of a hospitality show on Netflix, called With Love, Meghan.

Prince Harry has been supportive of the star – so much so he even appeared in one of the episodes of her Netflix show – but could this new movie role be leaving a sour taste?

According to royal expert Kinsey Schofield, it certainly doesn’t look like it.

In fact, she believes that Meghan’s new job may come as a ‘relief’ for Prince Harry.

‘If Meghan is on set it means she’s not at home filming intimate moments to share on social media,’ Schofield, host ofKinsey Schofield Unfilteredtold Daily Mail exclusively.

‘I imagine it’s a relief. Plus, happy wife… happy life,’ she continued.

‘Harry goes out of his way to give Meghan want she wants and has from day one,’ Schofield said.

On Thursday, it was widely reported that The Duchess was ‘very relaxed and happy’ while seen on set recently in Pasadena.

While plot details are still being kept under wraps, filmmaker Isaac Aptaker, known for This Is Us, has written the script, with Jason Orley taking the helm as director.

And it appears Meghan is taking it all in her stride with insiders reportedly praising the actress as ‘very sweet.’

Speaking to Peoplethe source revealed that she has a ‘small role’ in the project and was ‘on the set today.’

‘She seemed very relaxed and happy. She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth,’ the source added.

It all comes as Meghan recently opened up about her difficulties with finding roles early on in her acting career during an appearance on entrepreneur Emma Grede’s podcast in June.

Meghan said that she was often put forward for ‘girl next door’ roles because she was ‘half white/’

The Duchess, whose mother Doria Ragland, is black and whose father, Thomas Markle, is white, told Grede, ‘When I was an auditioning actress and this was well before Suits, you have to think at that time there were certainly not a lot of mixed race parts.’

Grede replied: ‘Really?’ Meghan then insisted: ‘No’ – and Grede again said: ‘Really?’

‘No, there weren’t a lot. If I was going in for an audition – you have to remember this was a very different time than it is now – it was Girl Next Door,’ Meghan shared.

‘That was typically blond-haired, blue-eyed and a certain look. But because I’m half white, I would also be submitted for those roles and then if it was a character that had any sort of ethnicity, there was always a bit of a edge to those characters,’ she continued.

‘But I’d be submitted for those roles and I also, to a lot of people in casting, they thought I was Latina. So I share that because, and I’ve shared this before, because it was a numbers game,’ Meghan shared.

‘If I’m only up for 10 parts, that could be 10 nos, but if I’m up for 30 parts because I can fit into so many different rooms, that could be 30 nos. That is a lot to chip away that is a lot to chip away at your self-esteem – that is really hard.’

The Duchess said that she ‘went through my chapter of self-doubt as an auditioning actor and beyond that’, adding that ‘when you’re so consumed with what everyone around you thinks of you, that can be a really hard way to live’.

She told how in her 40s and as a mother, she wanted to set an example for what her children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are ‘going to think about themselves’.

‘You can’t have an imposter syndrome around. You have to be so authentically the role model and the example of confidence, self-forgiveness, kindness, fun – all of those things, you can’t fake that,’ Meghan said.

‘You want to model that for them, so all of that really shifted in the past six years of becoming a mom for me.’
