Van Dijk Admits He Hasn’t Spoken To Trent “much” Since Exit

Virgil van Dijk has admitted he hasn’t spoken much to Trent Alexander-Arnold since his Liverpool exit but it is “nothing personal.”
Unlike Van Dijk and Mo is wrongAlexander-Arnold chose not to sign a new contract at Liverpool last summer and instead left for Real Madrid.
Before his exit, large parts of the Anfield crowd booed their former idol and he is expected to receive a frosty reception should he play against Liverpool on Tuesday night.
“Let’s see (what the reception is),” Van Dijk told media including the Liverpool Echo.
“I’m not going to say (I want a hostile atmosphere). I’m not going to comment on that.
“Do you (the press) want it to be hostile? I think he’s been outstanding in his time in Liverpool and that’s the only thing I can say.
“Have I spoke to him since the move? Not much, no. Nothing personal whatsoever, obviously I live my life and he lives his life in Madrid.”
While he hasn’t had much contact with Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold has been in touch with some of his other ex-Liverpool teammates, he revealed on Prime Video.
“I think when the draw was announced, everyone kind of knew it was going to happen,” the 27-year-old laughed.
“After the draw there was a lot (of messages). I spoke to Robbo (Andy Robertson), Mo (Salah), Ibou (Konate). We were just laughing.”
Ahead of the Champions League match, Trent added that he thinks “it will be a very very difficult game” and a “huge game on a huge stage to go and try and perform.”
Liverpool “have to make it very difficult” for Trent Alexander-Arnold
While it is far from a certainty that Alexander-Arnold will start – Federico Valverde played at right-back on Saturday – Liverpool have a plan to stop him from playing his natural game.
Van Dijk continued: “I think Trent is a quality player. He showed it so many times, he’s a very gifted player and he was important for us over all those years.
“I was very happy to have him in my team. We have been very successful, but now he’s an opponent on Tuesday. If he plays then we have to make it very difficult for him to do what he’s good at.
“(It’s a huge week for Liverpool) and then I go to the international team and hopefully qualify for the World Cup as well. Massive weeks ahead.
“Obviously we’re in November, there’s so much football to be played still and we have to focus on and even when we were winning games, (we) focus on the game ahead.
“Stay fit, make sure you’re in form and when you play, perform and every three or four days there’s an opportunity to do that.
“So on to the next and then we’ll see by March time.”
