I Added Quince’s Effortless Silk Dress To My Closet

There’s nothing I love more than a simple outfit that looks polished, and my go-to formula for fall is a comfortable dress with boots.
As a perpetually sweaty person, I love a sweater dress, but the thick and ultra-warm material tends to make me overheat, so unless it’s unbelievably cold out, I pass on knits. On the other hand, poplin fabric is often too cold and breezy for chilly days, leaving me a bit stumped about what to wear.
I (shockingly) didn’t own any silk pieces in my wardrobe until I had the opportunity to review Quince’s Silk Twill Utility Shirtdressand I can say confidently that it’s my ideal autumn look. And my favorite part about this luxe OOTD is that it’s machine washable, which means zero pricey trips to the dry cleaners.

Once I stumbled upon this washable silk dress at Quince, I knew I needed it in the chocolate brown color; after all, it’s the unofficial hue of fall, and loads of my celebrity fashion muses, such as Kate Hudson and Jessica Albahave already given it their stamp of approval. Not only is the color on-trend right now, but it fits in with the rest of my neutral-toned wardrobe and complements my extensive handbag and shoe collection.
The midi-length dress is my ideal hemline, since it offers coverage past my knees without trapping in heat thanks to its smooth silk fabric. I’m a big fan of the flattering fit, with two convenient side pockets, two chest utility pockets, front buttons, and a removable tie belt that accentuates my curves in the best way. It requires zero styling; just a pair of boots or flats, and I’m out the door.
I was initially hesitant since silk doesn’t have a ton of give to it, that the sleeves would be a bit constricting, but they offer just the right amount of roominess while still looking tailored, and the button wrist cuffs can be left open or closed for versatility.
For silk, I was extremely impressed by the $150 price tag, considering I’ve seen similar dresses from other brands cost upwards of $325. I’ve also often avoided the luxurious fabric since it typically requires dry cleaning — a.k.a. a cost I don’t want to add to my list of expenses. But when I found out it was machine washable, I was willing to give it a shot. Even after gently drying it, there were very few wrinkles that required a quick steaming session, and it was ready to wear.
