Alabama‘s Derek Meadows appeared to be knocked out cold on Saturday after suffering a brutal hit against Missouri.

The freshman got his hands on the ball over the middle of the field before he was met with a vicious hit from Missouri safety Marvin Burks Jr., who appeared to lead with his helmet into the receiver’s shoulder.

Meadows then hit his head on the turf on his way to the ground and was seen lying motionless as Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer and others rushed onto the field.

Meadows was ultimately able to get up and walk to the locker room with the assistance of two Alabama staffers.

He was seen giving a ‘thumbs up’ sign to the Crimson Tide fans on his way off the field.

Burks, meanwhile, was ejected for targeting, while Missouri were slapped with a 15-yard-penalty as well.

And with the score at 7-7, the Crimson Tide were able to continue their drive and put more points on the board following Meadows’ injury.

Quarterback Ty Simpson connected with Isaiah Horton for a 16-yard touchdown early in the second quarter for a 14-7 lead.

No. 8 Alabama are trying to stay in the hunt for the College Football Playoff following a loss to Florida State in Week 1.

Since then, they’ve rebounded with four consecutive wins, including an upset win over Georgia on September 27.

Meadows is a true freshman and made his debut earlier this season against FSU.

He was unable to haul in the catch he was attempting to make during Burks’ hit, and has yet to make a catch this season.
